Product Stewardship

We take the concept of product stewardship very seriously.

Product stewardship involves understanding and acknowledging the health, safety and environmental impacts of our products across their entire life cycles. It also involves a proper engagement with customers, employees and other stakeholders in relation to these impacts. From design through to disposal, our aim is to ensure that our products are used in a way that will minimise impacts on the environment, as well as maintain the health and safety of those around us.

Product Life Cycle Analysis

Our commitment to operating sustainably drives our approach to responsible product development and stewardship. Effective and responsible management of the environmental, health and safety impacts of our products can only be achieved through a complete understanding of the life cycle of those products.

PrixMax engaged external auditors to conduct a detailed life cycle assessment of our RCP product range that followed the standards outlined by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, as well as the ISO series of standards for LCAs: ISO 14040 and ISO 14044.

These ‘cradle to grave’ assessments cover the complete life cycle of the product from development, acquisition of raw materials, manufacture, storage, transport, sale, use and disposal. The LCA enables us to identify any areas where the environmental sustainability of our products can be further improved, and provide us with a framework through which we can effectively manage, monitor and continually improve our environmental performance.

Product Design

Effective product stewardship at PrixMax is first driven by innovative formulation development and forward-thinking product design. Environmental, health and safety impacts of a product upon end-of-life disposal can be drastically reduced or even eliminated when the product has been designed to effectively deal with these impacts. It is for this reason that the focus of our product development for nearly two decades has been on advancing the technology behind our sustainable formulations. The PrixMax OAT water based RCP coolants offer customers products that have been specifically designed to address and eliminate, where possible, the environmental, health and safety impacts of use down the line.

When thinking in terms of product stewardship, the use of formulated water based coolants offers environmental and health & safety benefits that are simply unparalleled when compared with other base fluid formulations. Industry clients and customers can use the PrixMax RCP coolant range with confidence, knowing that they have been formulated to offer durability and environmentally sensitivity. Not only is the NAPS-free formulation completely free from any potentially toxic Nitrites, Amines, Phosphates and Silicates, as well as any Borates or other heavy minerals, but the water-based product also means that it is readily biodegradable. In an industry where product disposal can have such an impact on EHS (environment, health and safety), the PrixMax readily biodegradable RCP coolants offer a truly sustainable end-of-life solution.
